1. Copyright and Related Rights
All the contents found on the Web sites irnerio.cirsfid.unibo.it, www.cirsfid.unibo.it -all text, files, tables, interfaces, applications (including applets), and graphics and artwork (including icons and logos)-are protected under the law on copyright and related rights, and on patents and trademarks, and generally under intellectual property law, and hence under the law on industrial property.
Any products or companies that should appear or be mentioned on these Web sites are trademarks protected by law. All the documents, products, software, and databases appearing or mentioned on these Web sites are protected under the law on copyright and related rights and may be patented.
Material protected by the law on copyright and related rights, or on trademarks and patents, may be used only with the express consent of its owner or of the person or entity having title to those rights.
The material over which CIRSFID has intellectual property rights may be viewed, downloaded, reproduced, or used only within the limitations set forth in the Irnerius Project service agreement, making exception for any such use as may be allowed under applicable law. Hence, none of the material in question may reproduced, copied, modified, transferred, or distributed for whatever reason and by whatever means if such actions fall outside the scope of the limitations just mentioned.
CIRSFID-except as otherwise stated in writing-is the exclusive holder of the following rights:
- the rights to the digital images which can be accessed on the Web sites irnerio.cirsfid.unibo.it, and which depict the codices made available by the Real Collegio di Spagna in Bologna; these images are stored on a database that collects and organizes them on the basis of the catalogue created under the oversight of Prof. Maffei and entitled "I codici del Collegio di Spagna di Bologna," (Milan: Giuffrè, 1992);
- the sui generis rights over the database created to catalogue the low-, medium-, and high-resolution images in the collection and to enable users to search for, select, and view these images;
- the rights over all the applications (including Java applets) found on the project's Web site; and
- any further rights that CIRSFID is entitled to claim under the service agreement it enters into with a user.
2. The Agreement for the Irnerius Project Online Service
The Irnerius Project service agreement is e-mailed to anyone (person or entity) who makes a request for it by completing the subscription form found on the Web sites irnerio.cirsfid.unibo.it.
A digital copy of the agreement (for physical persons as well as for entities and enterprises) can be downloaded by logging onto the service sites and linking to the section entitled Subscribing to the Service. This digital copy of the agreement cannot be enforced: the agreement will be valid only if printed on paper from a digital copy of it e-mailed by CIRSFID to the address indicated in the Irnerius Project subscription form.
3. Information Disclosed Pursuant to Article 7 of Legislative Decree No. 7/2003
The following disclosure is made pursuant to Italian and European law, and in particular to Legislative Decree 70/2003, and its Article 7-regulating certain aspects of information-society services and e-commerce conducted on national soil-and to Directive 2000/31/EC, whose Whereas No. 18 states that these activities include "services which are not remunerated by those who receive them, such as those offering on-line information or commercial communications, or those providing tools allowing for search, access and retrieval of data." The following items (a) through (f) make up our full disclosure in compliance with the legislation and guidelines just mentioned:
- Service provider's name: CIRSFID (Interdepartmental Centre for Research in the History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Law and in Computer Science and Law), a centre of the University of Bologna (otherwise called Alma Mater Studiorum).

- The prices charged for the Irnerius Project online service is designed to cover only the expenses borne in providing the service itself, a service intended to make widely available a corpus of materials that would otherwise be difficult to access. These prices are established by the terms of the service agreement and will be disclosed here, too, as soon as the information becomes available.
- The service may be used only in the manner earlier specified in this notice and detailed in the Irnerius Project service agreement (available online at irnerio.cirsfid.unibo.it and occurring in two versions, one for physical persons and the other for entities and enterprises), which frames the license to use the database, interface, and applications (including applets) enabling users to view the high-resolution images they are entitled to view by subscribing to the service and signing the relative agreement.
4. Information Disclosed Pursuant to Articles 3 and the Following of Legislative Decree No. 185/99
Legislative Decree No. 185/99 is on distance contracts, and Articles 3 and the following of this decree regulate the relationship between the parties during the time leading up to the conclusion of the agreement between them. The disclosure required under these articles is made directly in the Irnerius Project service agreement (the two versions of it: for physical persons and for entities and bodies corporate), which agreement the user receives by e-mail upon subscribing to the service, and which is valid only in its printed form.
5. Information Disclosed Pursuant to Article 13 of Legislative Decree No. 196/2003
Article 13 of Legislative Decree No. 196/2003 regulates the protection of personal data. The disclosure required under this article is made on the Web sites irnerio.cirsfid.unibo.it can be accessed from the sidebar, by linking to the user subscription form in the text area of the site.
